Birth photography is one of the most amazing experiences that we can have as a photographer. It is emotional, and raw, and beautiful. I love this specialty, and I hope you’ll consider having me as a small part of a huge day. I know that you will treasure these memories forever.
I will work with you to understand what you are looking for in your birth photography experience. I will ask questions about what is and is not allowed so that you are comfortable with my presence. I prefer that we meet in advance and perhaps enjoy a mini-maternity shoot to put you at ease with my skill set and experience. We will talk about what role you want me to have – passive, active, fly-on-the-wall or up in your *ahem* face. We will be sure that you are comfortable before you go into labor.
My service typically begins when you enter active labor and ends about an hour after the baby arrives. For inductions I will typically come early to get some establishing shots and then leave until you want me there. Keep in mind, you will determine when you want me there and what I am allowed to shoot.
After I leave the hospital, I will work my fastest to get you a preview on our blog, typically within 24-48 hours. Your finished product is usually delivered within 2 weeks and includes a USB drive of your images, a DVD of your photo montage, and a print release. I will also (with your permission) post your images online (I can password protect images containing nudity and separate those from the ones that do not contain nudity if you prefer) and post your video online.
This standard package starts at $495, and we can build on that as needed.
Sometimes when people inquire as to the cost of birth photography, they can receive a little sticker shock! Keep in mind that we will probably be spending as much or more time with you than your wedding photographer did – but with a date that’s up in the air! My services (I hope!) will go beyond your expectations – and I can’t wait to work with you.
